hair follicle rescue and stimulation with growth factors from platelets

Platelet rich plasma PRP hair treatment

Platelet rich plasma rejuvenation is a great way to support the growth and maintenance of hair. Hair loss can affect both men and women and can be highly psychologically troubling. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections can be used in combination with micro-needling at the early stage of hair thinning and follicle atrophy. This stage is marked by the presence of thin weak hairs which grow at the leading edge of the hair loss.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been used in many fields of medicine to repair tissues including skin grafts, joints, tendons, wounds and even as eye drops for corneal diseases. The ability of platelets to secrete growth factors and proteins can be used to support weak and dying hair follicles and to stimulate the weak hairs to re-grow into strong vibrant follicles. PRP is useful as a treatment for male and female pattern hair loss and alopecias.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A HAIR PRP TREATMENT?

A small amount of blood (11 mL or 22 mL) which is drawn from your arm into a special closed system kit that allows us to spin and extract the PRP. The resulting straw coloured liquid is then injected into the superficial layers of the scalp using a tiny droplet with the thin needles across the entire area/s being treated. A standard 11 mL blood spin will produce 6 mL of PRP which can cover most of a receding hairline.

PRP is prepared from your own blood

Blood is extracted from a vein in your arm and spun in a special kit which safely produces injectable PRP. This is then injected very superficially into the prepared scalp area using a tiny needle.
