Improve and remodel skin structure through healing and repair
Microneedling
Microneedling treatment consists of creating thousands of tiny punctures in the skin area being treated. These punctures can be made using various microneedling devices including derma rollers, derma punches and derma pens.
The creation of this degree of microscopic tissue injury simulates a potent healing cascade in the tissues which results in increased cell turnover and increased production of components of the extracellular matrix such as collagens and elastins. This is as close to an all natural skin age reversing treatment as we are going to get.
MICRONEEDLING INFORMATION
- Bruising, swelling and overall redness is normal on treated area for up to 5 days
- Skin peeling and shedding is normal after this procedure
- Avoid touching the skin for 4 hours
- Avoid application of any skincare product for 24 hours
- Avoid further aesthetic treatments for 4 weeks
- Paracetamol is usually sufficient for analgesia
- Risks: pain, bruising, bleeding, inflammation
- Extremely rare: skin pigment changes
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MICRONEEDLING
Skin micro needling using devices such as derma-rollers and derma-pens stimulate repair and remodelling of the deeper layers of the skin. The degree of tissue remodelling is dependent on the baseline condition, tissue penetration depth and the number of treatments.
Advanced microneedling requires a minimum depth penetration of up to 1.5mm and requires good anaesthesia which may involve small local anaesthetic injections. There is a social down-time of up to 5 days following a full face treatment which is recommended even when specifically targeting one area. The rate at which you heal will determine recovery time and some people may not be suitable for this treatment (if your on certain medications which impair healing)
1
Consent and photograph
We will discuss the indication for microneedling, its risks and ask you to sign a consent form.
2
Skin preparation
The skin should be free of any makeup. Local anaesthetic will be used to numb the treatment area, this may be ca combination of topical cream and or an injection of local anaesthetic called a regional block.
3
Various microneedling tools are used
The entire treatment areas will undergo microneedling using up to 1.5mm depth. Various microneedling tools will be used to maximise client comfort whilst allowing us to achieve desired results. Microneedling procedures normally include the use of both dermarollers, dermapens and dermastamps.
4
No touching for 4 hours
We will cleanse your skin at the end of the procedure with witch hazel and arnica gel. There is downtime associated with this procedure which varies depending on penetration depth and treatment extent.
